YOUR SPACE, EXPLAINED
Your conversations.
Your business.
A practical explanation of what waaaapp stores and what its website connects to.
Updated 22 October 2026
Desktop account sessions
waaaapp displays WhatsApp Web in separate, persistent browser sessions. Session files, account names and selected profile photos are stored locally in the application's data directory. WhatsApp handles your messages and communication service under its own terms and privacy policy.
waaaapp does not operate a hosted message service or an account-synchronization server. The current application has no analytics integration. Network requests to WhatsApp are needed to provide the service.
Microphone and camera
The first-run call setup asks for microphone and camera access and briefly tests the devices. Test streams stop immediately after access is checked. WhatsApp may then request device access when you use calling features. You can change operating-system permissions at any time.
Workspace backups
A workspace backup includes account names, profile photos and the selected account. It does not include message history or authenticated WhatsApp sessions. Backups use AES-256-GCM encryption with a key derived from your passphrase using scrypt.
The file stays wherever you save it. waaaapp does not upload backups. If you transfer or share a backup, the destination and transfer method are your choice. Keep the passphrase separately; the app cannot recover it.
Website and download requests
This website uses no analytics scripts or tracking cookies. Cloudflare serves the site and processes requests as the hosting provider. Like other web requests, those requests expose connection information such as IP address and browser details to the provider.
The download section requests public release information from GitHub. Opening a download or source-code link connects you to GitHub, which processes those requests under its own policies. The desktop updater also contacts GitHub to check for releases and download updates.
Relevant provider policies: WhatsApp, Cloudflare, and GitHub.
Remove an account or linked device
Removing an account in workspace settings clears that account's local storage and cache. It does not delete messages from WhatsApp. To revoke a linked device at WhatsApp, use Linked devices on your phone.
Uninstalling the app does not necessarily remove its user-data directory. Homebrew's optional zap operation removes the app's local data. Delete exported backup files separately when you no longer need them.
Questions and feedback
waaaapp is an independent project by Chris Ochieng and is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta. For general issues, use the project issue tracker. Public reports should never contain private messages, phone numbers, QR codes, session files or passphrases.
